You can only Restore a B Series Notebook if you have a CDRom drive (This is not supplied as standard with the B Series.)

You will need to Download the Latest Boot Recovery Diskette (Highly Recommended)

You can only re-install the software if you have the Operting System Recovery-CD with the License Code (Located on a sticker on the underside of your LifeBook) and the Drivers and Utility CD Provided with the LifeBook.

Warning

The re-install process will remove all data from your drive, please back up all information before you start.

The systems are now shipped with Windows 98 Operating System Product Recovery CD that looks like the above. This CD can only be used on a Fujitsu Technology Solutions Computer.

	Windows 98 Recovery for B2131
1.	Enter the BIOS F2 and Load Setup Defaults. Once Defaults have been loaded under the Boot Menu change the Boot Priority so that FLOPPY DISK (A:)is listed as first device.
2.	Exit BIOS Saving Changes, Machine will restart and Boot from the Floppy Drive.
3.	Insert the Boot Recovery diskette for Windows 98. Click here to download (recomended). And start your LifeBook.
4.	You will get the following menu Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu Start Windows 98 Setup from CD-ROM Start computer with CD-ROM support Start computer without CD-ROM support Enter choice : 3
5.	You are now at the A: Prompt. First you need to clear the old data from your C: Drive. To do this type FORMAT C:
6.	Once the Format is complete, restart you LifeBook leaving the Boot Recovery diskette for Windows 98 in the Floppy drive.
7.	You will get the same menu as before. Please select option 1 and start the Windows 98 Setup.
8.	Follow the On-Screen Instructions and install Windows 98.
9.	Once Windows has installed you need to install the remaining drivers and utilities. These can be found on the Drivers and Utilities CD. Insert this into the CD Rom Drive. The CDRom will Autorun and you will get the following screens..... See Below....

Enter the BIOS F2 and Load Setup Defaults.
Once Defaults have been loaded change the following enteries.

Advanced
	Plug & Play O/S	No
	I/O Device Configuration	Infra Red Port	Disabled
	PCI Configuration	IRQ Reservation	IRQ 9 Reserved
Power	Suspend Mode	Suspend
	Auto Save To Disk	Off
Boot
	Boot Priority	Floppy Disk (A:)	Make sure that this is listed as the first boot device

Exit BIOS Saving Changes, Machine will restart and Boot from the Floppy Drive.

Insert the Boot Recovery diskette for Windows NT. Click here to download (recomended). And start your LifeBook.

You will get the following menu

Start Windows NT Recovery from CD-ROM
Start computer with CD-ROM support
Start computer without CD-ROM support

Enter choice : 3

You are now at the A: Prompt.
First you need to clear the old data from your C: Drive.
To do this type FORMAT C:

Once the Format is complete, restart you LifeBook leaving the Boot Recovery diskette for Windows NT in the Floppy drive.

You will get the same menu as before. Please select option 1 and start the Windows NT Recovery.

Follow the On-Screen Instructions and install Windows NT.

Once Windows NT has finished installing the basic application you will need to install the Windows NT Service Pack and LifeBook Drivers. To do this you first need to install the CDRom driver so you can run the Drivers and Utility CD to load the remainder of the drivers.

From Windows Control Panel select SCSI Adapters. Under the drivers tab select Add.

Select the Have Disk button, and insert the Floppy disk with the NT CDrom driver on. Select ARCTPI from the device list and install. System will restart

You should now have a working CDROM Drive.

First you will need to install the Latest Windows NT Service Pack. Once you have inserted the Service Pack CD it will autorun and upgrade the Windows NT.

Once the service pack has installed you need to install the remaining drivers and utilities. These can be found on the Drivers and Utilities CD. Insert this into the CD Rom Drive. The CDRom will Autorun and you will get the following screens..... See Below....

Drivers and Utility CD

Select your Language variant by clicking the desired Flag

Select the LifeBook Model and Operating system required.
Care must be taken to select the correct model a the installation of the wrong driver / utility can cause errors in the operating system.
Click on the advace arrow to continue.

Select the Driver or Utility that you wish to install.
Once this has been done one or more of the buttons on the bottom will be Highlighted depending on the available methods of installation of this device. Install selected device or utility.
Repeat this process for all the Drivers and Utilities that you wish to install
