We had a number of calls in October 2002 for the Amilo A model reporting problems with keyboard.
Customers were reporting that no characters come up at all regardless if they use the FN key or not.
One customer reported that the opposite of what's supposed to happen with/without FN key.
Symptoms:
none of the number keys works. Only 19 letters work. Those that don't work either display nothing or will perform some
other function...such as scroll.
none of the keys on the right hand side work. Some will display nothing, others will display different characters or actions such as hyphen or space.
letters are displayed when the FN is pressed and when its not pressed the symbols come up.
the function keys on this system will do exactly the opposite of what its supposed to. If FN key is used letters will come up, if not used numbers.
Resolve issue by pressing a combination of keys.
FN + CTRL + Pad lock..

Issue with keyboard use. Pad Lk key !!
- When Pad LK is activated you should be getting the letters printed in green on the keys.
- There is indeed no LED for the Pad LK function. So only by trying you will find out whether it is activated or not.
-
With original BIOS, once the PadLk function is activated, it will stay locked even after a reboot .
With BIOS 1.03 we have implemented PadLk disable after reboot.
- 'When pushing the Scr LK + Fn buttons at the same time you get the (???? etc.) signs
With "PadLk and "NumLk" you can also use the "Fn" function key. With them you get access to the 2nd and 3rd level of the
key function like typing numbers or activating the cursor in the number block.
The problem: there are only LEDs for Caps & NumLk but non for PadLk so it's hard to find out the status of PadLk.
