Re-Installation of Save To Disk Partition Windows 98 Re-Installation

Re-Installation of Save To Disk Partition
If you get the following message

Partition doesn't exist!!
Save To Disk feature is disabled
Hit any key to exit


It is because the Save To Disk Partition has been Corrupted or Deleted
You need to do one of two things
 
1. You can just disable this message in the BIOS.
This is not the recommended option as it means you can not suspend the PC.
  • Under the Advanced Menu
  • Untick SaveToDisk Warning Message
2. Recreate the Save To Disk Partition.
This is the recommended option
For this you will have to re-partition your Hard Disk and Reload Windows 98 ·
To recreate the Save To Disk Partition
  1. Go into BIOS and change Boot Sequence to A: then C
Under Main Menu
Boot Sequence
Tick A: then C:
  2. Insert and boot from a Bootable Floppy Boot Disk (Not Provided with Machine)
  3. Remove all Partitions using FDISK and EXIT
  4. Restart for changes to take effect
  5. Boot from a Floppy Boot Disk
  6. Find 0VMAKFIL.EXE located on CD-ROM Driver Diskette provided with the machine in a folder called S2D
  7. Run the file
Type:- 0VMAKFIL -P99
(This makes a Save To Disk Partition of 99MB to cover if the customer puts in an addition 64MB upgrade, This is the highest memory upgrade available)
  8. Reboot using Floppy Boot Disk
  9. Using FDISK Create Primary Dos Partition in remaining space
     
     
     
Re-Installation of Windows 98
1. Go into BIOS and change Boot Sequence to CD-ROM then C:
Under Main Menu
Boot Sequence
Tick CD-ROM then C:
2. Restart the PC and Boot from the Windows 98 CD
3. Follow the On-Screen Instructions and install Windows 98.
4. When the Windows 98 Install has finished Insert NoteBook Drivers CD Provided with the LiteLine. This CD will autorun
5. The message Install PCMCIA TI1225 In Win98 will come up
Click OK
6. Windows 98 Restarts and auto detects PCMCIA Controller - insert Windows 98 CD when prompted.
7. Windows will Restart
8. Insert the NoteBook Drivers CD back in the unit again. CD will autoruns and Installs the Video Drivers (Trident VPM Driver TW18). Follow onscreen Instructions
9. Windows Restarts
Message Based Drivers Install Completed
10. Change Display Properties to 800x600 @ 24 Bit Colour
11. Installing Modem · If Modem is selected in BIOS
Advanced Menu
Com Ports
Tick Modem / IR
12. Go into Device Manager
An Unknown Device is Listed, this is the Modem
13. Click On Reinstall Driver Button
14. Insert Bitware CD
Select mdmchipv.inf on the CDROM drive
15. Follow on screen instructions.
16. Windows Installation Is now complete.
